Sad, but Glad

Sad, but Glad

Rob Lane

This week's missive brings tidings both glad and sad, fellow Miercenaries, for while we wave goodbye to the old webstore we say hello to this one and the many awesome new miniatures ahead of us...

Goodbye, Old Friend

On Monday the last, last, last ever big sale on the old webstore will finish, and that means that wonderful workhorse has almost completed its job (first begun back in 2012) - which was very simple: to bring many Mierce Miniatures to the world!

It has certainly had its critics, and the payment system began creaking long ago, but it worked well enough over the years and many of you simply got used to it - to the point that this new webstore isn't quite right for you yet. Don't worry though, it will be!

So please, raise a glass with me for the job the old webstore has done: in web development terms, being twelve years old (and it can trace its roots back to 2005, in all honesty) is bloody ancient, and it really is long overdue for retirement!

Retired, Not Dead

The old webstore will still be up and running as we work through the backlog of kickstarter orders, of course, but the payment system will be turned off before the end of the year.

Ograx, Finally

Glad tidings come in the rather rotund shape of the ograx of Baalor, which are complete, finally! As I said last week, I'm a finicky sod, and I've been waiting for the sculptor Ivan Flaman to alter the shields to my satisfaction. That now being done, I can release them to the digital subscriptions guys and get cracking on producing them in lovely Grey Wulf resin ourselves.

Fomoraic Ravagers of Toraigh Battle Host

Lots of lovely ograx! The shields shown here are the old ones.

I've got all the ograx ravager files, too, as well as Haakon on srónocx, and am half-way through supporting them ready for print and digital release; that should happen on Monday. That, then, will be October's battle host finished and I can start work on next month's Érainn.

Beasts, Brutal

I also have gladness in the shape of the final monsters for the Brutal Beasts campaigns!

Rafael Callegari has completed work on the cawrdraig for the Brythoniaid and they are as beautiful as could be hoped; stunning, in fact, I would say. But then I am biased! They'll be supported early next month, all being well, and I hope to have them ready by the middle of November.

Sleisig, Cawrdraig

So stunning are the cawrdraig that I have given the tricky job of Drēorgan the līcdrāca to Rafael - he's very keen to do him and I have no doubt he will do this excellent concept justice.

Tommaso Lucchetti's beautiful Drēorgan artwork

The last of the second brutal beasts project to be sculpted (with the gunnhrafn, Nidalung the cynedēra and the goghu now complete) is Gogamagogg the two-headed giant for the Albainn. Ivan Flaman will continue his work on this big fella and he should hopefully be done next month. That means that all of the sculpts (barring Drēorgan) will be done by the end of the year. We do always get there in the end.

Vallejo, and More

As we said the other week, we've now got the full range of the new formula Vallejo Game Color (along with the new Xpress Color, basically contrast paints) in the workshop, all in stock barring a couple that have sold very quickly; the distributors in the UK normally keep a very large stock of these paints but they do sell well, so its only to be expected that a few will be out here and there. Even so, once they're back in stock with them we get them very quickly and we will endeavour to keep them in stock as much as possible in the future.

The Vallejo Game Color stand. You can tell its ours because of that lovely poster of The Clash at Karaez behind!

Next up for us on the hobby side will be AK Interactive's 3Gen paints - watch out for an announcement on those very soon - hopefully followed closely by The Army Painter's lovely ranges.

Paint Sets, Darklands

While these won't be ‘official’ in terms of manufacturer packaging, we are intending to give you the option to purchase paints (from various ranges) as Darklands kindred or realm sets - meaning, for each kindred / realm, you'd have a set of a few paints (nine to begin with) for base, mid and highlight for the three colours that each kindred's ‘look’ is based around. These sets would be at a nice discount for buying them individually, of course.

For example, the Brythoniaid Gwynedd realm's colours are white, scarlet and steel, so your nine paints would have the base, mid and highlight for those three colours. Simples.

Anyway, watch out for those soon!

Week, In the Next...

That's all for now: until next week, have a look at some pretty pictures of Rikkaard on his mighty frost beast!

A joint effort between Ivan Flaman (frost beast) and Cleyton Amorim (everything else), Rikkaard will rear his beautiful yet ugly head for sale next week...

Until then, keep it Mierce!

@Jonathan – not officially; obviously I do have one! But the paint sets (hopefully in the next week) will point the way…

Great idea about the paints but does raise a question I’ve been meaning to ask. Is there a guide to colour schemes for different kindred/realms? It would definitely help me with my sometimes crippling indecision about what colours to pick! Cheers

Jonathan

New paints and a pending Gogamagogg! I’m feeling spoilt 😜
